The Vornado/Charles E. Smith Engineering Services' mission is to provide excellent engineering services that support superior customer service and sound stewardship of our properties. Our Engineering workforce is one of the most highly tenured in the market, with an average of twelve years of experience. All of our Engineers hold a minimum of a DC Third Class Operating Engineers License.
Engineering Services partners with Management Services to provide efficient, high quality operations, and plays an integral role in the integration of sustainable practices into operational standards.
Technology
At Vornado/Charles E. Smith, we are using sophisticated technology to manage all of the processes needed to run today's workplace. Our Tenant Service Center operates and maintains one of the largest and most sophisticated remote monitoring and emergency response centers in the United States. Our licensed engineers continually track fluctuations in power usage and monitor heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) operations before they impact tenant comfort, business operations, energy efficiency or productivity. This 24/7 operation also becomes a complete Emergency Command Center in emergency situations.
Energy Management
Through the Tenant Service Center, Vornado/Charles E. Smith is dedicated to the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR program which optimizes buildings' energy performance and lessens environmental impact. By managing peak demand, monitoring and controlling energy consumption, maintaining our systems for optimal performance and partnering with our tenants to adapt energy conservation practices, we have reduced energy consumption across the portfolio.
